The Studio W experience

Our curated selection of classes is designed to help you find your unique “wellbeing flow.” Whether you are seeking the athletic precision of the Reformer or the rhythmic energy of the Barre, we offer a diverse range of disciplines tailored to your personal goals. Explore how our specialist sessions in Stoughton can transform your movement practice.

Who is Reformer Pilates suitable for?

Reformer Pilates is incredibly versatile and suitable for almost everyone, regardless of fitness level. The machine uses springs and pulleys to provide both resistance and support, making it ideal for those looking to build core strength, improve flexibility, or enhance athletic performance.

While both methods focus on core stability, Mat Pilates relies on your own body weight for resistance against gravity. Reformer Pilates utilises a specialised carriage system with adjustable springs, allowing for a wider range of exercises and extra support for the joints.

Our Barre classes are a high-energy, low-impact fusion of Pilates, yoga, and ballet-inspired movements. Set to an uplifting tempo, these sessions focus on high repetitions of small, isometric movements designed to tone the glutes, legs, and core.

Yoga typically focuses on flexibility and spiritual well-being through held poses (asanas) and flow. Pilates is a physical conditioning system focused on core strength, spinal alignment, and functional movement. The two complement each other perfectly for a balanced routine.

For many people, attending 2 to 3 sessions per week is the “sweet spot” for noticing improvements in posture and strength. However, even one session a week provides a vital moment of calm in a busy schedule.

If you buy a membership or a Reformer class pack, you can choose any class from Reformer, Mat Pilates, Yoga, and Barre, allowing you to tailor your weekly routine to exactly what your body needs.

If you have bought a Mat Pilates, Yoga & Barre class pack or single class, you cannot use this for Reformer Pilates but are welcome in any of the other classes.

Health, Safety & Inclusivity

At Studio W, we believe that movement should be accessible to every body. Our professional instructors are specialists in adapting our programmes for a variety of physical needs — from pre- and post-natal care to injury rehabilitation and managing long-term conditions like arthritis. Your safety and progress are our absolute priorities.

Is Pilates suitable if I am pregnant or injured?

Yes, it is an excellent way to maintain strength. However, if you are injured or in your second/third trimester, we recommend booking a 1:1 Clinical Pilates session initially so we can provide specific modifications before you join group classes. Two of our Pilates instructors are also fully qualified osteopaths and ideally placed to offer you the modifications that best suit your needs.

Absolutely. For those managing arthritis or looking for a more gentle pace, we recommend our WellMove classes. These are specifically designed to be slower-moving, focusing on joint mobility and gentle strengthening.

Certainly. Our boutique class size (maximum 7 people) ensures our instructors can guide you through every setting. If you feel nervous, our Introductory 1:1 is the perfect way to learn the mechanics first.

Our Welcome classes are designed for people who are newer to Reformer Pilates so look out for these on the timetable.

Our Whole classes are suitable for everyone as your instructor will provide modifications to meet your level, whether you are new or looking for challenge.

If you’ve never used a Reformer machine before, please arrive 10 minutes before class and let your instructor know so that they can introduce you to the basics of the machine before the class starts.

We are proud to host a team of highly qualified, specialist instructors. You can learn more about their backgrounds and teaching styles on our Meet the Team page.

Our group classes are designed for those aged 16 and over.

Your visit to the studio

We have designed our boutique Stoughton space to be a sanctuary from the everyday hustle of Guildford and the surrounding areas. To ensure your visit is as seamless and restorative as possible, we have gathered all the essential logistical details here—from what to wear to where to park.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, breathable athletic clothing. For safety and hygiene on the Reformers, grip socks are required. These are available for purchase at the studio if you don’t have a pair.

Please arrive between 5 and 10 minutes before your class starts to settle in and store your belongings. For the consideration of the community, we cannot admit latecomers once the session has commenced.

Yes, there is convenient local parking available near our Stoughton studio including a number of Studio W spaces. We recommend allowing a few extra minutes during peak times.

We are located near to the QEP centre in the heart of Stoughton, Guildford, easily accessible for residents of Woking and Worplesdon. Detailed directions are on our Contact Page.

We provide everything: premium Reformer machines, mats, blocks, and bands. You only need to bring yourself and a water bottle.

We have a dedicated space to store your belongings and change. As a boutique studio, we do not have showers, but we provide a refreshed environment for your transition back into your day.

Bookings & memberships

Joining the Studio W community is designed to be straightforward and flexible. Whether you prefer the commitment of a monthly membership or the freedom of a class pack, we offer options that suit your lifestyle and pace.

What’s the difference between membership and class packs?

Memberships offer the best value per session and additional benefits for consistent practice. Class packs offer total flexibility, allowing you to buy a set number of sessions to use at your own pace.

With a membership, you will choose a number of classes to use each week.

With class packs, you have 3 or 6 months to use the classes that you’ve bought.

Our 12-month memberships are a commitment to your long-term health and cannot be cancelled early. If you aren’t ready for a full year, we recommend our 3-month membership.

All bookings are managed via our website or app. We operate a 24-hour cancellation policy; sessions cancelled within this window will be charged.

Yes, you can join the waiting list for full classes. You will be notified via email or app if a space becomes available.

We love welcoming new faces. You can book an individual session for them, or they can purchase an introductory pack. We also offer Couples Pilates for a tailored duo experience.

It is not possible for them to use your class bundle or membership.
